چکیده
Background/Aim: The aim of this study was to analyze the survival predictions obtained from a recent graded prognostic model developed and validated in Japan. Patients Methods: This retrospective single-institution analysis 249 patients, managed with whole-brain radiotherapy for brain metastases. sum scores calculated as Japanese study. following parameters were included: number metastases, volume largest lesion, sex, Karnofsky performance status, primary cancer type, control cancer, presence extra-cerebral Results: Median overall 3.0 months (95% CI= 2.6-3.4 months). median 12, range=0-29. Statistically significant differences observed between all strata. Conclusion: is also applicable patients treated rather than stereotactic radiotherapy.

Dosimetric comparison of two different whole brain radiotherapy techniques in patients with brain metastases: How to decrease lens dose?
Background: Palliative whole brain radiotherapy (WBRT) has been the standard treatment for brain metastases. Ionizing radiation is known to be one of the most potent cataractogenic agents. We aimed to evaluate two different radiotherapy techniques with respect to the doses received by the organs at risk (OAR) in patients with brain metastasis who undergone WBRT. Materials and Methods: Ten conse...
متن کاملPrognostic factors for survival in patients treated with stereotactic radiosurgery for recurrent brain metastases after prior whole brain radiotherapy.
PURPOSE To evaluate prognostic factors for survival after stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) for new, progressive, or recurrent brain metastases (BM) after prior whole brain radiotherapy (WBRT). METHODS AND MATERIALS Patients treated between 1991 and 2007 with Gamma Knife SRS for BM after prior WBRT were retrospectively reviewed. Potential prognostic factors were analyzed overall and by primary ...
متن کاملBrain metastases treated with radiosurgery alone: an alternative to whole brain radiotherapy?
OBJECTIVE Whole brain radiotherapy (WBRT) provides benefit for patients with brain metastases but may result in neurological toxicity for patients with extended survival times. Stereotactic radiosurgery in combination with WBRT has become an important approach, but the value of WBRT has been questioned. As an alternative to WBRT, we managed patients with stereotactic radiosurgery alone, evaluat...

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of whole brain radiotherapy (WBRT) combined with streotactic radiosurgery versus stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) alone for patients with brain metastases. MATERIALS AND METHODS This was a retrospective study that evaluated the results of 46 patients treated for brain metastases at Dr. Abdurrahman Yurtaslan Ankara Oncology Training an...

1960 www.thelancet.com Vol 388 October 22, 2016 Radiation oncologists are often challenged because of the paucity of randomised trials supporting their clinical practice. In terms of brain metastases treatment, it should be emphasised that there have been fi ve randomised trials assessing whole brain radiotherapy (WBRT): four studies assessing stereotactic radio therapy with or without WBRT for...
